I love this promise of Christ, that He makes all things new. He is the bearer of the image of God, both Human and Divine. He was always obedient to the will of God, the Father, and He brought physical, emotional and spiritual healing to people's lives, making them whole. He did that when He was alive, and even more through His death and Resurrection does He bring new life to the broken-hearted through prayer, faith and the work of His Spirit. Nothing is too hard for Him.
However, dear Reader, I wonder if, like me, you have an area of your life that is too hard to think about, and does not have faith in Christ's healing power? It may simply be that there were no words to express the difficulty of that experience, loss, or happening. If we have experienced trauma as children, we almost certainly did not have words to express our loss. Babies simply cry when they are suffering hunger or the mother figure has failed to give the comfort they need. But if the loss becomes consistent or more violent in violating a child's boundaries in any dimension, then the child learns to keep silent. In the end the loss and trauma becomes hidden behind survival behaviours and is no longer conscious.
SO we may find hidden in the bushes of our lives, some need/s unheard and unmet!! In our adult self, we are at a loss to deal with this pain, discomfort, sense of neediness, and it may get swept along with other avoidance behaviours. But if we are willing to face and accept these bits of ourselves, without shaming or blaming ourselves, or others, then we can turn to the promise of Christ.
In His mercy and Love we can ask Him to make this bitterness, or self-isolating behaviour, or shame into 'something new'. We can choose to let go the protecting behaviours that come from trauma, and in the grace and love that come through the Holy Spirit, we can learn to trust God again, and live in Self control, without controlling others. Through Christ we can learn to trust others within the context of Love and mutual respect. We can choose to recognise that the 'lack of self-love' we feel belongs to the past, but even there can Christ make all things new and change our self- hatred, and inability to receive love from others, or God, into forgiveness, humility, wisdom, and love for the broken-hearted. In loving others with compassion for God's sake we are blessed ourselves.

Lord by the power of Your Holy Spirit, bring us awareness of ways we run away from pain, denying Your invitation to wholeness in You. May we have courage to pray that You make ALL things new in us, that we live to Your praise and glory. Amen
