Bringing Light and Hope into darkened lives.
Dear Reader, Lets pretend we have no past, no expectations of each other, or the day, but we have got faith in a Living God who is going to make the day for us. Wow. That's exciting.
So the first task I am given is to write a post about making all things new. Even the washing up! So I put aside all the heaviness of, 'How shall I do it? Who will read it? Will my back last out?..and I put on the mind of Christ. He always trusted in the Father..so I handed over the questions to the Father - and find I am prompted to start writing in columns! Wow that's different. But it does remind me of a something in the past.
I once sat in Cluny Cathedral in France, and marvelled at the pillars, the columns, holding up the roof, and making a majestic invitations to enter into their verticalness, and yet see their creation of space to allow people and worship and love and a place of meeting with God. Perhaps that is what I need to create too?
So lets enter into today with this mindset of 'newness'... asking to have ears to hear, and eyes to see the new ways we might do things or see things. This means putting aside all our pre-conceived ideas of being 'bored', fed up, or otherwise disenchanted with life and work and the things that need to be done.
Lets start to be 'playful' in our hearts, allowing He who knows all things to lead us into new ways, and stimulate our minds and heart to see and hear through the eyes of Love.
If we are seeing through the yes of Love, even the sad and difficult encounters or tasks can be 'made new'. It was once so empowering for me when a counsellor-type professional, allowed me to cry and at the end of the session suggested I go into his waiting room till I was ready to leave. I felt blessed and strengthened in contrast to those times when someone had tried to 'fix' me and tell me what to do.
Thus I have no answers for you dear souls, except to invite you to an open heart and mind. With these open doors you can allow the Living God to bring you new ways: breaking old habits of ways to do things, and habitual expectations of how people are, or will respond. These ways of thinking are like prison bars, and indeed with them filtering your hearing and seeing, nothing does change.
When Jesus promised He would make all things new, indeed He came to set us free from these prison bars; despite external circumstances.
We can help the process with prayer, for ourselves, but also for our enemies. In praying for those who treat us badly we come to see through God's eyes and we have compassion instead of hate, mercy instead of bitterness, and blessing for a broken, hardened heart. And God promises that we will receive mercy.
Lord as we open our hearts and mind to Your Ways, may you make all things New in us.
