Dear friends, how easy it is to let go of faith when we seem to be going into an area of newness. All our cosiness is blown apart!! Yet Jesus says He makes all things new. I am being led into new areas of technology in order to reach out to those who, as I was, feel stuck in a rut of pain and loss with no sense of wholeness.
I have come to see there is a difference between the difficulties of facing new things in our lives, and the deep ruts in the path where actually we are stuck. Our stuckness, and the heavy burdens we carry are frequently because of the beliefs we have absorbed through experience or the actual words we have been given through others. This is why St Paul tells us to ‘take every thought captive’. Our thoughts really are responsible for much of our unhappiness and lovelessness, along with the lack of trust and faith we have in the reality of God’s love for us. St Seraphim points out that our Christian lives are to enable every thought to be changed by the Holy Spirit, of love, so indeed we become temples of the Holy Spirit… the Holy Mind of Christ, as well as full of the wonder of God’s love.
This is why there will be a live-video event on the Face Book page ‘Overcoming in Christ‘ on Wednesday 9th September, at 6pm-7pm. It is based on one of the beautiful invitations of Christ: ‘Come to Me all you who are weary and heavy laden, I will give you rest.‘ To begin I will talk of God’s love for us through Christ, reaching into our darkness, with examples through my own story and that of others before me. Then I will invite immediate questions of participants.
Finally outline details of Zoom seminar sessions over 4 weeks will be explained . For those participants who may be interested in these, I will invite them to suggest areas of ‘stuckness’ – or the burdens that they would like more specific focus on during the sessions. These sessions will be 90 mins long – also on a Wednesday at 6pm but on Zoom giving greater flexibility of interaction.
Participants will need to sign up to commit to these and send me their email address so I can send out joining details and additional information. There will be an invitation to a donation to cover costs….suggested figure around £20 for the 4 sessions. A form will be posted next week.
